Jamaïcain challenges Mbaye Diop’s Dakar victory

Mbaye Diop’s election as head of the Dakar District is being challenged by fellow promoter Jamaïcain, who says the result should be overturned. Jamaïcain plans to take the case to the appeals commission, arguing that the vote was affected by irregularities.

The defeated candidate has identified three voting situations that he considers questionable. He says Ibrahima Diouf, known as Ibou Diouf and described as technical director of the Rock Énergie stable, voted while representing another stable. Jamaïcain also disputes an electoral mandate given to referee Babacar Diop in the name of a stable. His third complaint concerns Thiouth, a coach with Fass Benno, whom he says voted under the Door Dooraat banner.

Jamaïcain maintains that he has evidence to support his allegations and is seeking the cancellation of the election. His objections put the legitimacy of Mbaye Diop’s new position before the district’s appeals process rather than settling the leadership contest with the announced result.

Despite the dispute, Jamaïcain and Mbaye Diop remained together throughout the elective general assembly and appeared to maintain a close relationship. That public proximity has not prevented Jamaïcain from formally contesting the outcome.
