Karim Mané among three cut from Senegal World Cup squad

Senegal will enter the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers without Karim Mané, Kara Sène and Samba Dali Fall. Head coach Desagana Diop has removed the three players from his provisional group ahead of the games in Dakar.

The decision leaves 14 players in contention, but the final roster must contain 12. Two further exclusions are therefore still required before Senegal’s squad is confirmed. The Lions open the window against Egypt on Thursday 27 August, then face Angola on 29 August and Mali on 30 August, with all three matches scheduled for Dakar Arena.

Mané, a guard with Rouen Métropole Basket, was part of Senegal’s team at AfroBasket 2025, where the Lions won the bronze medal. Sène, an ADA Blois Basket 41 forward, made his first appearance for the national team in 2026. Fall, who plays as a guard-forward for ASC Ville de Dakar, had been called up for the previous qualifying window after strong performances for his club, including in the Basketball Africa League.

Their removal changes the group assembled for the home fixtures, while Diop continues the final selection process with the opening game against Egypt approaching.
