Kasper Asgreen joins NSN on a two-year deal

NSN have added a proven classics leader, with Kasper Asgreen joining the Swiss team on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old Dane is expected to bring experience to the squad’s one-day ambitions and help develop its younger riders, working alongside Biniam Girmay among the team’s leading names.

Asgreen has 14 professional victories, including the 2021 Tour of Flanders, where he finished ahead of Mathieu van der Poel and Greg Van Avermaet. His other major successes include Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne in 2020, the E3 Grand Prix in 2021, and stages at the 2023 Tour de France and 2025 Giro d’Italia. He spent his first eight seasons with Quick-Step before two years at EF Education-EasyPost.

The move gives NSN a rider capable of targeting pavé races, breakaways, attacks and time trials. Asgreen has also set his sights on completing a Grand Tour stage-winning treble by taking a stage at the Vuelta a España, while the world championship time trial remains another major objective. He was two seconds short of a bronze medal in that event in 2021.

Asgreen arrives after 53 racing days this season without a victory for EF Education-EasyPost. He suffered a shoulder injury in a crash during the second stage of last week’s Renewi Tour, but the setback does not affect the transfer. He has said the classics remain his priority and that NSN’s existing group has strong potential in those races.
