Kouakoukankro wins Sandégué communal football tournament

Kouakoukankro have won Sandégué’s communal football tournament after beating Madam in the final. The result gives the village the title in a competition intended to unite young people from across the municipality through football and community activities.

The final was played on Friday, 11 September 2026, with Kouakoukankro securing a 3-2 victory. The tournament began on 7 August and was organised at the initiative of Sandégué mayor Ouattara Daouda. It carried the mayor’s name and brought together nine teams representing the municipality.

Beyond the sporting contest, the event was established to encourage youth development, fraternity and social cohesion. Its organisers presented the tournament as a way to strengthen relationships among residents of Sandégué and to create a shared setting for the community’s young people. Sandégué sub-prefect Kohou Monkoin Emma praised the competition’s contribution to peace and urged the participants to uphold fair play and respect for one another.

The final was attended by local authorities, heads of public services and a large audience. At the end of the tournament, the municipality gave rewards to all nine teams that took part. Kouakoukankro’s win therefore closed an event that recognised the champion while also including every participating side in the presentation.
