Kylian Mbappé defends his response to Paraguayan senator

Kylian Mbappé has reaffirmed his decision to answer a Paraguayan senator who had singled him out, making clear that he does not regret taking a public position. The Real Madrid forward said he will continue to speak when he believes an important boundary has been crossed.

Mbappé discussed the episode in an interview with France Football ahead of the Ballon d’Or ceremony scheduled for October 26. He said he received backing from Paraguay’s government, French President Emmanuel Macron and other institutions. He also rejected the idea, linked in the discussion to Michel Platini, that public figures must simply accept every criticism or decision directed at them.

The France captain went further by condemning people in senior positions whom he considers exceptionally incompetent. He said he would retain the energy to challenge such conduct, extending his comments beyond football and into public debate.

At 27, and after more than a decade at the highest level, Mbappé has repeatedly used his platform on wider social issues. His latest intervention confirms that he does not intend to remain silent when he believes public responsibilities are being handled poorly.
