Ligue Pro Senegal season moved to 17 October 2026

Senegal’s 2026-2027 domestic football season has been postponed by two weeks, allowing the national teams to operate during a congested international period. The Senegalese Football Federation has set 17 October as the new starting date for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

The two competitions had been due to begin on 3 October. The federation confirmed the change on Tuesday evening after holding an urgent meeting to address the overlap between the domestic schedule and several national-team activities planned for the opening weeks of the month.

Senegal’s senior team, under-17 side, under-20 team and under-23 selection are all scheduled to play international friendlies at the beginning of October. The beach soccer national team is also involved in friendly matches during the same period, creating a demanding programme for the federation and the players involved.

The revised timetable is intended to create a better link between league fixtures and national-team commitments, while giving the different selections a clearer preparation window for their international matches. Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs will consequently begin their campaigns later than first announced, with the new season now starting on 17 October instead of 3 October. No table or form implications apply yet because the 2026-2027 league campaign has not begun.
