Mankono launches fraternity and social cohesion tournament

Mankono’s 32-team maracana tournament has opened on synthetic turf to promote fraternity and social cohesion.

Mankono has opened a communal maracana tournament designed to bring young people together and strengthen social cohesion through sport. The competition was launched on Friday, 28 August 2026, at the Cissé Bacongo sports complex in the Tonhoulé district.

The event features 32 teams playing on synthetic turf under the banner of fraternity and social cohesion. Its organisers intend to provide young people with a healthy recreational setting while promoting peaceful relations and a stronger sense of community in Mankono.

Boni Kouakou Adolphe, prefect of the Béré region and of Mankono department, launched the tournament after noting the strong mobilisation around the initiative. He presented sport as a means of bringing people together and urged young people to support activities that develop unity and fraternity.

Cissé Namory, the RHDP departmental secretary and tournament patron, called on participants to show respect for opponents, tolerance and concern for others. He said the broader aim was to help young people become ambassadors for peace and social cohesion, while preparing them to take responsible roles alongside older members of the community.
