Marseille extend Sellami and Koum contracts to 2029
Marseille have extended Yanis Sellami and Alexi Koum’s contracts until 2029, strengthening their focus on youth development.
Marseille have extended the contracts of Yanis Sellami and Alexi Koum until June 2029, securing two young players as the club places greater emphasis on development from within. The decisions come during a difficult period economically and after Marseille made no signing during last summer’s transfer window.
Sellami is an Algerian midfielder who joined Marseille in 2021 from Marignane Gignac at under-15 level. He has progressed through the club’s youth system and was part of the team that won the French under-17 championship in 2023. A year later, he helped Marseille lift the Gambardella Cup, the main domestic competition for youth clubs in France.
The midfielder signed his first professional contract with Marseille in 2024. His latest agreement keeps him at the club until 2029 and extends a relationship that began when he entered the academy. His development also gives the club another player from its own system to consider for the future.
Koum joined Marseille from AJ Auxerre in the summer of 2024. The 20-year-old defender has now also agreed to stay until June 2029. Together, the two renewals give Bruno Genesio further options from the club’s young-player pathway in the coming months, while confirming Marseille’s effort to rely on academy graduates and recently developed talent.
