Marseille face pressure as Paixão exit threatens Genesio

Igor Paixão’s possible departure for Sunderland could push Bruno Genesio’s concerns at Marseille into a more serious crisis. The Brazilian winger impressed during pre-season and had become one of the coach’s main attacking options. His sale is viewed internally as a major blow, particularly because no replacement is currently expected.

Marseille began the season with a 4-0 victory over Strasbourg, creating the impression of a strong start. That result has not eased the concerns surrounding the club’s recruitment plans. The transfer window is nearing its end, while the expected arrivals have not materialised.

Genesio accepted the club’s financial limitations before taking the job and initially remained confident that the situation would improve. Instead, he has watched several established players leave, including Geronimo Rulli, Facundo Medina and Mason Greenwood. Paixão’s potential exit would remove another important piece without addressing the lack of incoming reinforcements.
