Mohamed Salah scores twice as Trabzonspor earn first win
Mohamed Salah opened his Trabzonspor account with two goals as the club secured its first Turkish league victory.
Mohamed Salah has opened his scoring account for Trabzonspor and delivered the club’s first Turkish league win of the season. The Egyptian forward, who joined the team this summer as a free agent, made an immediate impact after leaving Liverpool following nine years with the English club.
Salah put Trabzonspor ahead in the eighth minute before Istanbul Basaksehir restored parity through Eldor Shomurodov’s penalty in the 19th. The former Liverpool player struck again three minutes after half-time, securing the points for the hosts and completing his first goals for his new side.
The result moved Trabzonspor to four points and third place after two rounds. They began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa, making Sunday’s victory their first of the league season. Basaksehir remained on three points in eighth position.
The win gives Salah a strong start to his first campaign away from Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the club’s leading figures and collected several major honours. Trabzonspor’s four-point tally places them among the early leaders, while their next progress will be measured against the consistency that eluded them in the opening draw.
