
Limoges and Chambéry win as French clubs go two from three
Limoges stay perfect and Chambéry open their account, while St-Raphaël suffer a second European defeat.
French clubs improved their Ligue européenne record on Tuesday, with Limoges and Chambéry securing victories while St-Raphaël lost again. Limoges remain perfect after two matches and lead their group, Chambéry have moved into second place in Group C, and St-Raphaël are still without a point after two defeats.
Limoges won 46-33 at Hafnarfjordur after taking control early and holding an 11-goal advantage at half-time. Piotr Mielczarski led their scoring with seven goals from 10 attempts, while goalkeeper Valentin Kieffer made 10 saves. Chambéry earned their first European win by beating CSM Bucharest 33-25 away from home. Lucas Vanègue scored from all eight of his shots as the visitors pulled away after the interval.
St-Raphaël were beaten 36-32 at home by Elverum, remaining behind throughout the match and trailing 20-15 at the break. The Norwegian side established an eight-goal lead in the first half, and the hosts never reduced the gap below three after the restart despite six goals each from Antonin Mohamed and Johannes Marescot. Limoges will host Irun next week, while Chambéry welcome Kadetten. St-Raphaël travel to Hammarby needing a win to keep their hopes of reaching the second phase alive.
