Mohamed Salah set to have Trabzon street named after him
Mohamed Salah could have his new Trabzon neighbourhood street renamed after him, pending approval by Yomra council.
Mohamed Salah’s move to Trabzonspor is being recognised beyond the pitch, with Yomra municipality proposing to name the street outside his new residence after him. The plan would give the neighbourhood a lasting link to the Egypt captain and to one of the most prominent transfers in Turkish football and Trabzonspor’s history. It also reflects the attention his arrival is bringing to the area.
The proposed change would replace the name Silvi Sokak in the Kaşüstü district with Mohamed Salah Street. The measure still needs approval from Yomra’s municipal council, which is expected to consider it this week. Mayor Mustafa Bıyık has described the player’s presence as a special moment for local residents and said the municipality wanted to preserve the period as part of Yomra’s history. The municipality had encouraged Salah to choose Yomra as his home during the transfer discussions.
Salah, 34, joined Trabzonspor in August 2026 on a free transfer after nine years at Liverpool. He signed a two-year contract and has made five appearances for the Turkish club in league and European qualifying matches, scoring three times. His latest goal came in Monday’s 2-1 defeat by Amedspor. The street renaming remains a proposal until the council gives it formal approval.
