OM: Genesio faces major reshuffle for Troyes trip

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's injury doubt leaves Marseille considering a youthful midfield for Troyes.

Marseille could be forced into a major midfield reshuffle for Sunday’s visit to Troyes after Pierre-Emile Højbjerg became doubtful. The Denmark international, who started each of the club’s first five Ligue 1 matches, went off in the 10th minute of Denmark’s game against Wales with a suspected muscular problem. His possible absence further reduces Bruno Genesio’s options.

The midfield concern comes amid a wider injury problem at OM. Derek Cornelius is expected to miss several months after hurting his hip while playing for Canada, while Amine Gouiri and Himad Abdelli have also suffered physical setbacks during the international break. Marseille travel to the Stade de l’Aube after five straight defeats in all competitions and sit 17th in Ligue 1, increasing the importance of the match for Genesio’s team.

If Højbjerg is unavailable, Tochukwu Nnadi and Nouhoum Kamissoko could form an inexperienced central pairing. The duo were used together in the recent friendly against Montpellier. A possible Marseille lineup would be De Lange; Garcia, Egan-Riley, Aguerd, Emerson; Nnadi, Kamissoko; Harit, Gomes, Paixão; Maupay. Igor Paixão’s return to full-team training gives Genesio another attacking option, although the Brazilian has also indicated he could leave the club. The lineup remains a projected solution rather than a confirmed team.
