Paul Seixas confirmed as Decathlon’s Canada leader

Paul Seixas has been confirmed as Decathlon CMA CGM’s leading rider for a major Canadian sequence that will shape the end of his season. The 19-year-old Frenchman will contest the Grand Prix de Québec, the Grand Prix de Montréal and the world road race in Montréal before racing the Tour of Lombardy.

Seixas will spearhead the team in Québec on September 11 and again in Montréal on September 13. Paul Lapeira will share leadership in Québec, where a sprint finish is considered possible, while Seixas will carry the team’s main hopes on Montréal’s more demanding circuit. Tiesj Benoot, Nicolas Prodhomme, Noa Isidore, Stefan Bissegger and Rasmus Søjberg Pedersen will support the pair in both races.

The programme follows an impressive first Tour de France, where Seixas finished fourth. He also took third place in the road race at the most recent European Championships in France and arrives after winning the Flèche Wallonne. He turns 20 on September 24.

Seixas will then lead France at the world championships on September 27. His opportunity is strengthened by Tadej Pogačar’s absence: the two-time defending champion has ended his season after a crash at the Vuelta and will not seek a third straight world title. The French rider therefore enters the Montreal race as one of the central figures in his team’s plans.
