Paul Seixas set to leave Decathlon CMA CGM in 2028

Paul Seixas is set to leave Decathlon CMA CGM when his current contract expires, ending his time with the French team after the 2027 season. The development would force the team to reconsider plans built around the young French rider, despite its efforts to retain him and make him central to its future.

Seixas is attracting interest from two of cycling’s leading organisations for a move beginning in 2028: Britain’s INEOS Grenadiers and the Dutch Visma-Lease a Bike team. Visma currently appears to hold the advantage in the contest for his signature.

The proposed Visma project would place Seixas at the centre of its grand-tour ambitions. The team is considering reshaping its leadership structure to give him that role, including the possible departure of Jonas Vingegaard, a two-time Tour de France winner. The plan underlines the level of importance attached to the French rider.

The financial terms being discussed would also mark Seixas out as one of the sport’s highest-paid riders. Visma’s offer is estimated at between €8 million and €10m per season, a level comparable with Tadej Pogacar’s. For Decathlon CMA CGM, losing Seixas at the end of 2027 would mean surrendering a rider already viewed as one of the peloton’s most coveted young talents.
