Paul Seixas validates Decathlon warning for Montreal

The Grand Prix de Montréal has become Paul Seixas’ main target before the road world championships, with Decathlon CMA CGM convinced the Canadian race will suit its leader better than Quebec. The event will also offer a full-scale test on the roads used for the upcoming world championships.

The 15th edition features 16 laps of a circuit that includes the 1.9-kilometre Camillien-Houde climb, averaging 7.1 percent. That route provides a different opportunity after Seixas’ late setback at the Grand Prix de Québec, where Remco Evenepoel won. Seixas was also unintentionally involved in the incident that ended Juan Ayuso’s race.

Decathlon CMA CGM has already turned the page on Quebec and signalled its confidence in the Montreal course. Seixas’ role as the team’s leader gives that message added weight as he fine-tunes his form for the world championships.

Evenepoel will again start among the leading contenders as he seeks the Quebec-Montreal double, with Tadej Pogacar absent. Matteo Jorgenson, Giulio Ciccone, Isaac Del Toro and Tom Pidcock are also listed among the main threats. For Seixas, a strong showing would validate his team’s assessment and provide useful preparation on the world championship parcours.
