Paulo Gomes joins ACG advisory board for sport hubs

Paulo Gomes has joined the advisory board of African Collaborations Group (ACG), adding high-level investment and infrastructure expertise to the organisation’s plans for integrated sport and entertainment hubs across Africa. The appointment is intended to support projects designed as financially viable ecosystems rather than standalone facilities.

Gomes brings more than 30 years of executive experience advising governments, financing infrastructure and backing businesses across the continent. He is founder, chairman and chief executive of Constelor Investment Holdings, and founder and chairman of Orango Investment Corporation, which focuses on African investment opportunities linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area. He is also co-chair of the AfroChampions initiative.

From 1998 to 2006, Gomes served on the World Bank Group board, first as an alternate director and later as executive director representing 25 African countries. During that period, he played a role in the creation of the Africa Finance Corporation and in raising more than $1 billion for the Democratic Republic of Congo’s post-conflict reconstruction. He was also a founding member of the Africa Finance Corporation and the Green Climate Fund.

His work through Orango has included advising the sovereign funds of Angola and Senegal and contributing to resource mobilisation plans for the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development. His appointment gives ACG a strategic link to the AfroChampions model of developing African-owned champions in key industries, now applied to sport and entertainment.
