Sadio Mané double completes Al-Nassr comeback win

Sadio Mané scored twice late as Al-Nassr overturned a 2-0 deficit at Al-Ettifaq for a third straight win.

Al-Nassr maintained its perfect start to the Saudi Pro League season with a dramatic comeback at Al-Ettifaq on Tuesday. Ange Postecoglou’s team had to recover from a two-goal deficit before securing a third victory in as many matches. The result keeps Al-Nassr’s early campaign on course after it had won its first two fixtures more comfortably.

Al-Ettifaq built a 2-0 lead and appeared set to hand the visitors their first setback of the season. Instead, Al-Nassr found a decisive response in the closing stages. Sadio Mané began the turnaround in the 74th minute, receiving a ball played into space by João Félix before reducing the gap to 2-1.

The Senegal international completed the comeback in the 90th minute with another finish from a similar attacking move. His second goal of the night put Al-Nassr in front and settled a 3-2 victory. Mané’s two goals were his first of the new season and made him the central figure in a match that changed direction during its final quarter.

For Postecoglou’s side, the win is significant beyond the three points. Al-Nassr has now collected the maximum nine points available after three rounds, showing that it can also prevail when its early control is challenged. Al-Ettifaq, meanwhile, surrendered a two-goal advantage at home as the visitors completed the league’s most important turnaround of the evening.
