Saly Sarr wins 2026 Ultimate triple-jump title

Saly Sarr has added the Ultimate triple-jump championship to her Diamond League title and world indoor bronze, extending a strong run of results in 2026. The Senegalese athlete secured the crown in Budapest on Sunday, September 13, after opening the competition with the decisive effort.

Sarr’s first jump measured 15.06 metres, enough to finish just ahead of Cuba’s Davisleydi Velazco, who reached 15.04m in the third round. No athlete improved on Sarr’s opening mark. Leyanis Pérez Hernández, the reigning world champion, took third with 14.90m, while Olympic champion Thea LaFond finished fourth after a best jump of 14.47m.

The victory confirms Sarr’s form after she entered the 15-metre group with a 15.08m performance at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia. She then won the Diamond League title in Brussels, following her indoor world bronze medal in Toruń in March. In Budapest, she also recorded 14.92m and 14.83m in later rounds.

Pérez Hernández stopped before her final attempt after feeling her hamstring tighten. Velazco managed 14.44m with her last jump, while LaFond’s final effort reached 14.09m. Sarr said the title carried major personal importance and that she intended to return to training immediately rather than take a break.
