Bradley Barcola frustrated after missed chances at Liverpool
Bradley Barcola remains without a Liverpool goal after missing chances against Brentford, despite providing an assist.
Bradley Barcola’s wait for a first Liverpool goal continued in frustrating circumstances as his team beat Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League. The France forward found promising positions but could not convert them, leaving his strong Champions League display against LASK without an immediate follow-up.
Barcola had struck three times in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over LASK last Wednesday. Against Brentford on Saturday, he was denied when he faced Caoimhin Kelleher in a one-on-one situation and also failed to take other openings. He later acknowledged that scoring early could have changed the match by forcing Brentford to attack more and creating additional space for Liverpool.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon player still influenced the result by setting up Lewis Koumas. That assist gave him a meaningful contribution, but it did not remove his disappointment at failing to end his wait for a goal. Barcola said he was satisfied with parts of his work while recognising that his finishing must improve, and he intends to keep working until he opens his Liverpool account. His next chance to respond comes on Tuesday against Villarreal in the Champions League.
