Saly Sarr wins Silesia triple jump, sets Senegal record

Saly Sarr won the Silesia Diamond League triple jump with a 15.08m leap, breaking Senegal’s national record.

Saly Sarr has given Senegal a new national benchmark in the women’s triple jump after winning the event at the Silesia Diamond League. Her result is the biggest achievement of her career so far and strengthens her place among the leading athletes in the discipline.

The Senegalese athlete recorded 15.08 metres on Sunday to take first place. The mark carried additional significance because Sarr crossed 15 metres for the first time in her career, reaching a distance no Senegalese woman had previously achieved in the event.

Sarr’s leap also removed the former national record from the record books. That mark belonged to Kène Ndoye, the late Senegalese athlete who had been a major figure in the country’s sporting history. Sarr now holds the national best after surpassing Ndoye’s distance.

The victory follows Sarr’s appearance at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Guadalajara and gives Senegalese athletics another major result on the international circuit. It also confirms her progress against the strongest specialists in the event. By combining a Diamond League victory with a national record, Sarr has created a defining moment for Senegalese athletics and established a new target for the country’s future triple jump competitors.
