Senegal book UFOA-A U17 semi-final place with 5-0 win
Senegal reached the UFOA-A U17 semi-finals after a 5-0 victory over Sierra Leone ahead of their final group game.
Senegal’s under-17 team have qualified for the semi-finals of the UFOA-A tournament before completing their group campaign. Their final group match against Gambia will therefore come after the Lionceaux have already secured a place in the last four.
Senegal made their advantage count with a 5-0 victory over Sierra Leone on Thursday. Souleymane Commissaire Faye put the team ahead in the 14th minute, before Cheikh Oumar Sy extended the lead with two goals before half-time. Sy scored in the 32nd minute and again four minutes later, with one of his goals coming from the penalty spot.
The Senegalese side maintained control after the interval and continued to increase the margin. Amadou Assane Seck added a fourth goal in the 50th minute, leaving Sierra Leone with a difficult task of limiting further damage. Aliou Diop completed the scoring in the 81st minute.
The result confirms Senegal’s progress from the group and gives the team a place in the semi-finals with one fixture still to come. The meeting with Gambia will be Senegal’s remaining group-stage match, but qualification has already been settled by the emphatic win over Sierra Leone.
