Senegal reach Bahir Dar ahead of Ethiopia qualifier

Senegal have reached Bahir Dar to prepare for their second Group J match in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The national team travelled from Maputo on Sunday and will meet Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar Stadium on Tuesday.

The Lions began the qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mozambique. That result left Patrick Vieira’s team still looking for its first victory in the group, making the Ethiopia fixture an early opportunity to strengthen Senegal’s position in the race for qualification.

Ethiopia also enter the match without a point. They opened their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Sudan, so Tuesday’s game will bring together two teams seeking a first positive result. Senegal will aim to turn their opening draw into a win, while the hosts will try to recover from their defeat in the first round.

The match will begin at 4pm local time, which is 1pm GMT. Senegal’s final preparation is scheduled for Monday, when the squad will train at the Bahir Dar Stadium. The session will allow Vieira’s side to complete its preparations in the Ethiopian venue before the second Group J fixture.
