Senegalese motocross has lost one of its most prominent recent riders following the death of Serigne Mbacké Mar, better known in the sport as “Roof”. His passing has cast a shadow over a discipline in which he had established himself through repeated success in the national championship.

Mar was the reigning Senegalese champion in the Open category, a title he had won twice. Those achievements made him one of the leading names in the country’s motorcycle racing community and placed him among the competitors who shaped the discipline’s recent years.

The Senegalese Federation of Auto-Moto Sports, headed by Abdou Thiam, conveyed its deep sorrow after his death and offered condolences to his family. Tributes have since come from across the motorsport community, with Mar remembered as a committed motocross rider whose performances earned him recognition among the sport’s followers.

His death represents a significant loss for Senegalese motocross. Mar’s record as a two-time national Open champion and his standing within the community leave him as one of the discipline’s notable figures. He was buried in Touba, where he was laid to rest.
