Seydina Issa Aïdara calls for Senegal victory over Gambia

Senegal assistant coach Seydina Issa Aïdara has stressed that the team must win its remaining group match against Gambia to secure its position in the competition. His message came after Senegal produced two emphatic victories in the opening rounds, leaving the final fixture as the next requirement in the team’s campaign.

Senegal began with a 4-0 success against Mauritania and followed it with a 5-0 win over Sierra Leone. The results have delivered six points from the first two matches and showcased the team’s attacking strength, with nine goals scored and none conceded.

Aïdara said Senegal’s objective is not simply to rely on the quality of its earlier performances. The assistant coach underlined the need to turn the team’s strong start into another victory when the group programme concludes. His assessment puts the emphasis on results as Senegal seeks to move through the group.

The decisive match against Gambia is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, at 3pm at Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès. It will be Senegal’s third and final group game after the wins over Mauritania and Sierra Leone. The team enters that meeting having maintained a perfect record and having scored heavily in both of its opening appearances.
