
Songo wins 2026 Zabré King's Cup in Boulgou
Songo are the first winners of Zabré’s King’s Cup after defeating Bougré in the 2026 final.
Songo have claimed the inaugural King’s Cup of Zabré, taking the trophy after a tournament that brought together communities from across Boulgou province. Their victory came in the final against Bougré on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
Songo won 1-0 at the Zabré stadium. The opening 30-minute half ended without a goal, before Songo broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the second period. Bougré pressed for an equaliser, but Songo held on to secure the title. The competition began on 11 July and featured 16 teams from the communes of Zabré, Zoaga, Gon-Boussougou and Ziou.
The champions received 200,000 CFA francs, the trophy, gold medals, a set of jerseys and two balls. Bougré, the runners-up, collected 150,000 CFA francs, silver medals, a kit and one ball. Sangou finished third and earned 100,000 CFA francs, a kit and a ball, while the fourth-placed team received 50,000 CFA francs and a ball.
Zabré canton chief Naaba Kougri attended the final alongside local officials and village leaders. The organisers, Groupe Uni and FondEquipe, were praised for using the tournament to bring young people together. Local representatives also urged the finalists to maintain fair play and help strengthen social cohesion.
