Spain extend perfect Nations League run against Czechia

Spain stay top of Group 3 with nine points, while Switzerland lead Group 1 and Scotland move to four points.

Spain remain perfect in Nations League Group 3 after overcoming Czechia, preserving their lead and extending their unbeaten run to 41 matches. The result keeps the holders in control of the group after three victories.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute at Oviedo, curling a left-footed finish beyond Kinsky. Rodri doubled Spain’s advantage before half-time, combining with Pedri before finding the top corner. Slama pulled one back for Czechia in the 68th minute, and Spain faced further pressure before Krejčí was sent off after receiving two yellow cards. Mikel Merino settled the contest in the 89th minute for a 3-1 win, leaving Spain on nine points.

Switzerland also recorded a third straight victory, moving alone to the summit of Group 1. Vipotnik put Slovenia ahead after one minute, but an error by Oblak brought Switzerland level before Dan Ndoye completed the turnaround. The Swiss held on for a 2-1 success and controlled the second half.

Scotland joined Slovenia on four points after winning 2-0 in North Macedonia. Bowie struck early and John McGinn converted a second-half penalty. Scotland later lost McKenna to a red card, while North Macedonia remained bottom without a point or a goal after three matches.
