Steelers and Saints ready for NFL's first Paris game
Pittsburgh and New Orleans head to Paris after wins, with the Steelers chasing the top of the AFC North.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will meet at the Stade de France on Sunday in the first NFL game staged in Paris. Both teams enter the historic fixture with a victory behind them, giving the matchup added significance beyond its international setting.
Pittsburgh improved to 4-2 by beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-16 after overtime. Aaron Rodgers completed 33 of 49 passes for 253 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while Germie Bernard was targeted 11 times. The result kept the Steelers in the fight for first place in the AFC North, where Cleveland and Baltimore also have 4-2 records.
New Orleans ended a three-game losing run with a 34-27 victory over the New York Giants. Tyler Shough threw three touchdown passes without an interception, completing 16 of 30 attempts for 144 yards. The Saints’ defence also forced the Giants to replace quarterback Jameis Winston after three quarters.
The victory moved New Orleans to 2-4, leaving the Saints behind Carolina, who sit at 3-2 in the NFC South. Pittsburgh arrives with the stronger record, but New Orleans has a direct connection to France through its Louisiana identity and holds the team’s marketing rights in the country. Both sides now turn to the league’s first Paris fixture.
