Théo Hernandez completes AC Milan to Al-Hilal move

The France left-back ends six seasons at Milan after agreeing to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Théo Hernandez’s move to Al-Hilal ends his six-season spell at AC Milan and takes the France left-back to Saudi Arabia. The transfer also closes a period in which his future in Milan had become increasingly uncertain, despite a contract that ran until 2026.

Hernandez, 27, leaves as a France international with 38 caps. He had been targeted by several clubs, including Atlético de Madrid, the club where he was developed, but negotiations between Atlético and Milan ended without an agreement. Al-Hilal ultimately secured his commitment, with the Frenchman set to receive a salary of €60 million.

The departure follows a difficult final stretch in Italy. Hernandez was criticised by Milan supporters and was sent off against Feyenoord in the Champions League play-off second leg after receiving a second yellow card for simulation. Milan drew 1-1 and went out 2-1 on aggregate. Earlier in the season, coach Paulo Fonseca had also said he expected more from the defender and left him out of the starting lineup for two matches. Hernandez now leaves Milan after helping the club win the Italian Super Cup, scoring directly from a free-kick in the 3-2 victory over Inter.
