UAE reach Gulf Cup 27 final after beating Oman

The UAE defeated Oman 1-0 in Jeddah and will meet hosts Saudi Arabia in Tuesday’s Gulf Cup 27 final.

The United Arab Emirates have reached the Gulf Cup 27 final, where they will face hosts Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The qualification gives the UAE a chance to claim the tournament title after eliminating Oman in Jeddah.

The UAE won 1-0, with Ousmane Camara scoring the decisive goal in the 22nd minute. Mamadou Coulibaly delivered the cross, and Camara headed it into the net. The result marked the UAE’s third consecutive victory over Oman across competitions.

Oman had opportunities to equalise. Amjad Al-Harthi’s shot was cleared off the line by Lucas Pimenta, while goalkeeper Khaled Eisa stopped Khalid Al-Breiki’s effort. Oman goalkeeper Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini later kept his team in the contest by saving a penalty from Jimenez after a foul on Luan Pereira.

The UAE protected their narrow advantage through the final whistle. Their opponent in the decider was confirmed after Saudi Arabia overcame Qatar 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw through regulation and extra time. UAE midfielder Issam Faez said the team remained focused after scoring and then concentrated on preserving its lead, while Alaa Al-Din Zuhair described Oman’s performance as strong.
