WTA Finals set Charlotte dates from 2027 to 2029

Charlotte will become the new long-term home of the WTA Finals, with the season-ending tournament scheduled in the North Carolina city from 2027 through 2029. The decision gives the WTA a three-year venue plan after a period of frequent changes and the early end of Riyadh’s hosting agreement.

The event will be staged at the Spectrum Center, the arena that hosts the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets. Indian Wells will serve as the temporary host in 2026, before Charlotte takes over for the following three editions. Riyadh hosted the previous two WTA Finals, including last year’s tournament won by Elena Rybakina against Aryna Sabalenka.

The move is part of the WTA’s effort to establish greater continuity for its most important tournament. The Finals have been held in six different locations over the past decade, including Singapore, Shenzhen, Guadalajara, Fort Worth, Cancun and Riyadh. Charlotte was selected through a competitive process, with the WTA pointing to the city and its partners as a suitable base for developing the tournament and reflecting the progress and future of women’s sport. The first Charlotte edition is planned for the end of the 2027 season.
