Arthur Fils drops to 10th and risks leaving ATP top 10

Arthur Fils has slipped to 10th in the ATP rankings after his Tokyo quarter-final exit, with Djokovic closing in.

Arthur Fils is already under pressure to keep his place among the world’s top 10, only one week after entering that group for the first time. The Frenchman has fallen to 10th in the latest ATP rankings and could be pushed out if Novak Djokovic continues his run in Tokyo.

Fils now has 3,275 points, one position and 25 points behind Australia’s Alex de Minaur. His drop follows a quarter-final defeat in Tokyo, where he had entered through qualifying after an administrative error forced him to take the longer route into the tournament. Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot, ranked 14th and still competing in Japan, ended the Frenchman’s campaign.

The result comes after Fils won the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, but his latest ranking movement leaves him vulnerable to Djokovic, who is currently 11th and has returned to form in Tokyo. Daniil Medvedev has also moved back into the top five, rising to fifth, while Felix Auger-Aliassime has slipped to sixth.

Fils remains France’s highest-ranked player, ahead of Ugo Humbert in 32nd and Arthur Rinderknech in 33rd. The immediate issue, however, is the narrow margin separating him from a return outside the leading ten.
