Senegal placed in Group B for 2026 African Women’s Volleyball Cup

Senegal’s women’s volleyball team now knows the opponents standing between it and a place in the second round of the 2026 African Women’s Championship. The Lionnes were assigned to Group B, where their campaign will include meetings with Egypt, Uganda and Burkina Faso.

The continental tournament will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 23 August to 5 September. Sixteen national teams will compete for the African title, with Senegal among the four sides in the second group. Progress beyond the opening phase will depend on the team’s performance against the three Group B opponents.

Egypt represents the most established challenge in the section, while Uganda and Burkina Faso will provide Senegal with two further opportunities to collect the results needed to continue its campaign. The Senegalese side’s immediate objective is therefore to make a strong start and remain consistent through the group stage.

The other groups feature hosts Kenya alongside Mali and Zambia in Group A. Group C contains Cameroon, Nigeria, Tunisia and Ghana, while Rwanda, Algeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi make up Group D. For Senegal, however, the focus will be on navigating Group B and securing a place in the next phase in Nairobi.
