ASFA and Diisso reach Senegal handball finals

ASFA will face Jeanne d’Arc in the men’s final, while Diisso meet UGB in the women’s title match.

ASFA and Jeanne d’Arc of Dakar will contest the men’s final of Senegal’s 2025-26 elite handball championship. The women’s title will be decided between Diisso and the University Gaston Berger of Saint-Louis, completing the final line-up after this weekend’s semi-finals.

ASFA earned its place in a tense encounter with UGB, winning 33-32 after extra time on Sunday. Jeanne d’Arc had already secured the other men’s position on Saturday by defeating Dakar Université Club 36-27. The result gives Dakar’s Jeanne d’Arc a final against the military side, with both teams having come through different semi-final tests.

Diisso reached the women’s final after a 23-21 victory over Renaissance of Tivaouane. UGB joined them by beating Olympique de Diourbel 32-27. The women’s decider will therefore bring together a Diisso side that prevailed in a close contest and an UGB team that advanced with a five-goal margin.

The semi-final results also mean UGB will feature in both title pathways: its men’s team fell narrowly to ASFA, while its women’s side moved through to face Diisso. The finals will determine the champions of the 2025-26 elite championship. ISEG Sports won the previous men’s edition, while Golf took the women’s title, but neither of those teams appears in this season’s final pairings.
