Barcelona face €50m hurdle for Nicolo Tresoldi

Barcelona’s pursuit of Nicolo Tresoldi has become harder as Club Bruges raise their demands amid Premier League interest.

Barcelona’s search for a new No. 9 has become more difficult after Nicolo Tresoldi attracted interest from two Premier League clubs. The Catalan side had recently shown interest in the 22-year-old German forward, who plays for Club Bruges, but the growing competition has altered the conditions around a possible transfer. The development gives Deco another obstacle as Barcelona assess several attacking options.

Club Bruges had already rejected a €35 million offer from Roma for Tresoldi. Barcelona’s interest was followed by enquiries from Manchester United and Chelsea, with both English clubs now potentially entering the race during the final weeks of the transfer window. Their involvement has strengthened the Belgian club’s position and increased the pressure on any team seeking to complete a deal.

Club Bruges are now prepared to consider selling Tresoldi, but only for an offer that meets their valuation. That figure is understood to be about €50 million, €15 million above the proposal previously refused from Roma. The asking price could therefore complicate Barcelona’s plans, particularly as the club continues to weigh more than one route to reinforce its attack. Tresoldi remains an option, but the financial terms and new competition make the pursuit considerably harder for the Catalan side.
