Charles Leclerc explains Ferrari clash with Lewis Hamilton

Charles Leclerc has acknowledged his mistake in the Ferrari dispute with Lewis Hamilton and said the pair have settled the matter before this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. The Monégasque will compete in Madrid despite suffering a slight concussion and undergoing several medical examinations after the Italian round.

The incident came during the opening phase at Monza, where Leclerc’s aggressive move against his teammate was followed a few laps later by a heavy off-track accident. He later recognised that he had carried too much speed through the second corner. Hamilton initially rejected any suggestion that responsibility was shared, but the two drivers subsequently held a private and frank discussion and agreed to move on.

Leclerc also regretted that the incident happened at Ferrari’s home race, where errors involving the team attract particular criticism. After 13 of the season’s 23 grands prix, he is fifth in the championship with 155 points. Hamilton is third on 191, 10 points behind George Russell and 76 behind leader Kimi Antonelli. The Ferrari teammates will therefore return to competition with their internal disagreement addressed, while still separated by 36 points in the standings.
