Dakar Port Authority and ANAM back Dakar 2026

Senegal’s Dakar Port Authority and ANAM will support preparations for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The Port autonome de Dakar and the Agence nationale des affaires maritimes have committed to supporting the organisation of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Their partnership adds two key maritime institutions to the national effort behind the event, which will be the first Youth Olympics held in Africa.

The agreement followed a meeting between PAD director-general Doune Pathé Mbengue and ANAM director-general Mamadou Thiaw. The two organisations agreed to combine their respective expertise in support of preparations, alongside the state and other stakeholders involved in delivering the Games.

Their decision places the port and maritime sectors within the wider mobilisation promoted by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. Both institutions regard the Games as an important event for Senegal’s international profile and have indicated their readiness to take an active role in making the tournament successful.

The partnership also gives practical shape to the country’s broader preparations for Dakar 2026. By formalising their involvement, the PAD and ANAM have moved from shared support for the project to a defined commitment to contribute to its delivery.
