Darlin Yongwa and Norwich suffer 5-0 loss at City

Norwich’s Carabao Cup campaign ended at the third-round stage after Darlin Yongwa and his teammates were overwhelmed by Manchester City at the Etihad on Thursday. The defeat left the English side with no route into the next round after a one-sided contest against the holders of the stronger performance on the night.

Manchester City established control late in the first half. Floyd Samba opened the scoring in the 29th minute, and Rayan Cherki added a second three minutes later. Norwich went into the interval two goals behind and faced an increasingly difficult task after struggling to disrupt City’s possession and attacking movement.

Allan extended the advantage after the restart before Samba completed his brace in the 54th minute. Ryan McAidoo then added a fifth goal to settle the tie. Norwich attempted to reduce the deficit but could not turn those efforts into a goal, while City remained organised at the back.

The result marks a clear cup exit for Yongwa, a 25-year-old Cameroon left-back, and Norwich. Their ambition to challenge City in Manchester produced no reward, with the five-goal margin reflecting the difference between the teams over the 90 minutes.
