Diambars FC eliminated but set for CFAF 56.8m payout

Diambars FC’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup will still bring the Senegalese club financial support. The payment means the team will not leave its continental campaign without compensation, despite being eliminated in the opening stages.

The allocation is set at 100,000 US dollars, equivalent to approximately 56.8 million CFA francs. The measure covers clubs knocked out in the first rounds of both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The funding is intended to offset part of the expenses involved in taking part in African competition. Those costs include air travel, accommodation, transport and other logistical commitments required during the campaign.

Clubs eliminated at this stage previously received no such payment. The change gives teams such as Diambars a financial return after an early departure and represents a new form of support for clubs facing the cost of continental football. For the Senegalese side, the compensation will therefore soften the impact of its early Confederation Cup elimination, with the total value exceeding CFAF 50 million.
