Enzo Sternal revives his Anderlecht breakthrough hopes

Former Marseille prospect Enzo Sternal is thriving for Anderlecht Futures after a serious knee injury halted his rise.

Enzo Sternal has turned a difficult start in Belgium into a renewed push for a place in Anderlecht’s senior squad. The former Marseille prospect has returned from a serious knee injury and is now attracting attention with the club’s reserve side, RSCA Futures, in the Challenger Pro League.

The 19-year-old has scored twice and provided three assists across his last three league appearances. His form has made him one of the standout players in the team and has also excited Anderlecht supporters. During an open training session at Lotto Park last Wednesday, Sternal scored a goal that local observers compared with the style of Dodi Lukebakio.

Sternal joined Anderlecht from Marseille in January 2025 for €500,000, having played only 22 minutes in Ligue 1. He had previously helped Marseille win the 2024 Coupe Gambardella. His progress was then interrupted by a cruciate-ligament rupture, followed by a minor setback, delaying his planned move into the professional group for the 2025-26 season.

Anderlecht are managing his return carefully. The first-team squad has added 12 players this summer, leaving significant competition for places, but Sternal has now trained with the senior side during the international break. Several French clubs tried to bring him back during the last transfer window, while his performances are also being followed with interest by France’s under-20 setup.
