Erling Haaland reaches 59 Champions League goals

Erling Haaland scored twice against Porto to reach 59 Champions League goals in 59 matches for Manchester City.

Erling Haaland has moved further into Champions League history after scoring twice for Manchester City at Porto. The Norway striker’s latest performance strengthened his standing among the competition’s most prolific scorers and added another landmark to his European record.

The two goals took Haaland to 59 in 59 Champions League appearances. They also lifted his Manchester City total to 36 goals in the competition, bringing him level with Sergio Agüero at the top of the club’s scoring list. Haaland has matched that mark in fewer than 60 matches for City.

The 26-year-old has also reached the same overall Champions League total as Andriy Shevchenko. His progress has been particularly rapid: he remains the fastest player in the tournament’s history to reach 30, 40 and 50 goals. The latest milestone adds to a sequence that has made him one of the defining forwards of the current European era.

Haaland’s numbers place him in the same historical conversation as the competition’s established scoring greats, while his City record gives the achievement immediate relevance to the club. With 59 goals from 59 games, he has maintained a one-goal-per-match ratio in the tournament. The Porto double therefore delivered more than a strong individual display: it moved him level with a City legend and closer to the highest levels of the Champions League scoring rankings.
