Folarin Balogun and Ferland Mendy omitted from UEFA lists
Folarin Balogun, Ferland Mendy and several other notable names were left out of UEFA squad lists.
Folarin Balogun will not be available for Monaco in the Conference League, while Ferland Mendy is absent from Real Madrid’s Champions League squad. Their omissions headline a series of notable exclusions from the UEFA lists submitted by clubs for the upcoming European competitions.
Clubs had until midnight on Friday to send their squads to UEFA. Monaco left out Balogun after his proposed late move to Everton collapsed when he failed his medical. Mendy’s omission appears linked to the injury he suffered in May, a right femoral tendon rupture with bone dislocation that is expected to keep him out for several more weeks.
Manchester United did not include Leny Yoro or Kobbie Mainoo in its initial list, but both 20-year-olds remain eligible for the under-21 List B. Juventus left out Khephren Thuram, who is due to undergo knee surgery and is expected back in 2027, although he could be added in January. Edon Zhegrova and Arkadiusz Milik were also excluded by the Italian club.
Elsewhere, Como omitted French defender Willy Kambwala and Maxence Caqueret, while Sunderland left out Morocco international Chemsdine Talbi. Liverpool did not register Wataru Endo or Federico Chiesa. Zhegrova and Talbi have both been linked with possible moves to Saudi Arabia, while Kambwala joined Como from Villarreal this summer.
