Frank Magri explains his move from Toulouse to Qatar

Frank Magri has left Toulouse for Al-Gharafa after deciding that a move to the Qatar Stars League offered the best route for his career and future. The forward, who is approaching his 27th birthday, said he felt he had reached the end of a three-year spell with the Ligue 1 club and wanted a new championship.

Magri had contact with clubs in France and elsewhere in Europe, but those possibilities did not match what he was seeking. Al-Gharafa’s interest stood out immediately, giving him the chance to try a different football environment while also settling in Doha, a city he had viewed positively before making the move.

His start in Qatar has strengthened that decision. Magri scored twice as Al-Gharafa defeated Al-Shahaniya 2-1 in the opening round of the Qatar Stars League. He said the club’s directors, players and staff helped him adjust quickly, and that his comfort away from the pitch was already visible in his performances.

Magri also said security concerns in the Gulf did not change his plans. He had gathered information before moving and did not consider Qatar to be an active war zone, while describing Doha as peaceful, safe and well equipped. The transfer therefore ends his spell in France and begins a new chapter with an immediate personal contribution.
