Gessime Yassine reacts to Hatem Ben Arfa comparisons

Gessime Yassine has reacted to comparisons with Hatem Ben Arfa, putting the spotlight on a young Strasbourg winger whose profile has drawn attention in France and Morocco. Yassine is 20 and holds both Moroccan and French citizenship. He plays on the right wing for RC Strasbourg Alsace.

Yassine joined Strasbourg from USL Dunkerque during the 2025-26 season in a transfer valued at €7 million. His current market value is listed at €12 million, underlining the standing he has built since moving into senior football. The comparison with Ben Arfa links Yassine to a former France international known for his ability in one-on-one situations and from wide attacking positions.

His route to Strasbourg began in the south of France. He moved from Istres’ under-17 side to the club’s under-19 team in 2022-23, then transferred to Marignane’s under-19s in 2023-24. He subsequently made the step to USL Dunkerque before earning his move to Strasbourg. Yassine’s response keeps attention on his development at a club that secured him as a significant young attacking prospect, while the Ben Arfa comparisons add another layer to the scrutiny around his progress.
