Jack Grealish could leave Manchester City again for Sunderland

Sunderland have offered a loan with an option to buy Jack Grealish, who has returned to Manchester City from Everton.

Jack Grealish could leave Manchester City again this summer, with Sunderland pursuing a deal that would give the England winger a fresh route to regular first-team football. Grealish has returned to the Etihad after spending last season at Everton, but his second spell with City may also be short-lived.

Sunderland have put forward a proposal for a loan including an option to buy the 30-year-old. Manchester City are understood to be open to either another temporary move or a permanent departure, leaving the clubs to settle the operation’s conditions. The main obstacle is Sunderland’s reluctance to take on all of Grealish’s wages.

The left winger joined City from Aston Villa in 2021/22 for €117.50 million and has since struggled to reproduce his best level. A move to Sunderland would offer him the playing time needed to rebuild his momentum after his spell at Everton. City, meanwhile, would have to decide whether to retain him, loan him out again or allow a sale.

Grealish is listed with England and Ireland as his nationalities and currently belongs to Manchester City. His reported market value is €20 million for Everton, while his player record also includes earlier spells with Aston Villa and Notts County.
