Lamine Sané leads Senegal U17 into regional final
Lamine Sané praised Senegal’s U17 team after its 3-0 semi-final win over Guinea secured a 2027 AFCON place.
Senegal’s U17 team has qualified for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and advanced to the final of the UFOA-A tournament. The qualification confirms the team’s place at the continental competition, scheduled for April 2027 in Morocco, while the regional final gives the squad another opportunity to compete for a title.
Senegal secured both achievements by beating Guinea 3-0 in the semi-final. The victory settled the semi-final tie and sent the Lionceaux through to the final. It also completed their route to the next U17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the tournament place awarded alongside their progress in the West African competition.
Lamine Sané, Senegal’s coach, said the team had prepared specifically for the match and expressed his satisfaction with the players’ performance. He said: “On a bien travaillé le match… je suis très fier de mes garçons.” His assessment followed a result that delivered the two main objectives available in the semi-final: qualification for the regional final and a place at the 2027 continental tournament.
The victory is the latest confirmed result in Senegal’s U17 campaign. No table position or additional form sequence is provided, so the 3-0 win over Guinea remains the available measure of the team’s current progress. Senegal now moves on with its continental qualification secured and its UFOA-A final still to play.
