Lens: Jean-Louis Leca rules out major late changes

RC Lens are not expected to undergo major changes before the end of the transfer window. Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca says the club must balance squad size, sporting needs and finances, with departures required before further arrivals can be considered.

Leca estimates that 80 to 90 per cent of Lens’ transfer business is already complete. The club could still act if an attractive opportunity emerges, but he does not anticipate a major reshaping of the squad. He also made clear that Florian Thauvin is not available, even if interest arrives in the final days. The France forward, who recently became Lens’ captain, remains part of the club’s plans. Leca used humour to suggest that he himself would be easier to sell than Thauvin.

The decision comes as Lens sit second in Ligue 1 with three points from one match, having scored five goals and conceded two. Their recent record includes wins over Boulogne, Nice and Lyon, a draw with Charleroi and a defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. With the team positioned near the top after the opening fixture, the club’s priority is now to manage the existing group rather than add numbers. Lens next travel to Strasbourg on August 29.
