Ligue 1 clubs record €1.3bn in sales during quiet window

Ligue 1 clubs generated €1.3bn in sales, while Paris FC spent heavily and several teams reduced their squads.

Ligue 1’s transfer window was defined by major departures rather than a comparable flow of arrivals. Paris FC invested heavily to strengthen its first season in the top flight, while Lille and Lyon relied on high-value sales to reshape their squads. Monaco ended the window with two important players still at the club after late negotiations collapsed.

The league’s clubs recorded total sales of €1.3 billion. Lille led the headline deals, selling Ayyoub Bouaddi to Manchester City for €95 million and Matias Fernandez-Paros to Newcastle for €60 million. Lyon also lost key players after its Champions League setback against Fenerbahçe, including Afonso Moreira, Malick Fofana and Martin Satriano. Paris FC spent about €79 million after releasing several players who had helped the club in Ligue 2.

Monaco’s attempt to sell Folarin Balogun to Everton failed when the striker encountered an issue during his medical. The club then canceled its agreement with Chelsea for Lamine Camara, leaving both players in the squad. Monaco nevertheless sold Maghnes Akliouche to Paris Saint-Germain for €50 million and Aladji Bamba to Newcastle for €35.5 million.

Rennes remained active after several profitable sales, adding depth in line with Franck Haise’s plans. Lille also pursued targeted arrivals, including Dilane Bakwa on loan from Nottingham Forest, while the overall market showed clubs prioritising financial returns and selective recruitment.
