Lions U20 draw with Colombe in UNIFFAC warm-up

Cameroon’s U20 side drew 2-2 with Elite One leaders Colombe as preparations began for the UNIFFAC tournament.

Cameroon’s U20 team gained a useful test ahead of the UNIFFAC tournament after drawing with Colombe du Dja et Lobo in Yaounde. The match gave coach Yvan Kenmoe an opportunity to assess his squad against the current leaders of Cameroon’s top flight, rather than simply chase a friendly victory.

Colombe took the lead in the 17th minute through Katawiri Moubarak. Yvan Nana Jordan levelled for the national team 10 minutes later, before Samuel Fonyuy Achu put the young Lions in front. Ngoumbe restored parity for Colombe in the second half, leaving the teams tied at 2-2 at the Military Stadium.

The result came against a Colombe side in strong domestic form. The club sits first in Elite One with 55 points from 26 matches, built on 16 wins, seven draws and three defeats. Its recent run includes five straight victories, with wins over Fauve Azur Elite, Aigle Royal, PWD, Canon and Unisport Bafang. Holding that side to a draw provided a demanding assessment for the U20 squad.

The UNIFFAC tournament is scheduled for October 10-20, 2026, in Yaounde, with two qualification places for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations. Colombe’s next assignment is also continental: a CAF Champions League preliminary-round meeting with Stade Malien Bamako on September 5, 2026.
