Maghnes Akliouche compared with Désiré Doué at PSG

Gérald Baticle sees Maghnes Akliouche as a less uncertain PSG arrival than Désiré Doué was in 2024.

Maghnes Akliouche’s move to Paris Saint-Germain should carry fewer doubts than Désiré Doué’s arrival in 2024, in Gérald Baticle’s view. The former Angers coach, who worked with Akliouche in France’s under-21 setup, believes the new signing has the range to establish himself despite joining a demanding squad.

Akliouche arrived from Monaco this summer for €50 million and, at 24, has already made two Ligue 1 appearances this season. His expected role is mainly that of a substitute in Luis Enrique’s rotation rather than an automatic starter.

Baticle’s comparison rests on Akliouche’s positional flexibility. He can operate in two attacking roles and two midfield positions, giving the PSG coach several ways to use him. That versatility could help him collect meaningful minutes while he works towards a larger role.

The move remains a serious test. Akliouche must continue working to earn his place in what Baticle regards as Europe’s best team, while the former Monaco player waits to build Luis Enrique’s trust. For now, his route into the side is likely to come through the bench and gradually increased responsibility.
